Tables once enjoyed a lofty status in web designers' minds as the premiere lay-out tool for web pages. However, the emergence of CSS in the early 2000's gradually edged out the tr's and the td's in favor of div's.

Where does this put HTML tables? Actually, where they actually belong– on tabular data.
HTML Tables are still the preferred way of web developers to genereate reports and other lists.

Contrary to the Web Standards mindset, HTML tables are NOT dead. They are just in their own proper place.
